Cheri Wheeler brings more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry to her role as Vice President & Senior Consultant for Kelly Benefits Strategies (KBS), where she serves as the chief strategist and consultant on several of Kelly Benefits’ premier Large Group accounts.

Cheri’s clients view her as their key resource for strategic planning and management of their employee benefit plans. Her areas of specialization include self-funded medical plans, pharmacy benefit management, employee engagement, wellness, compliance and contract review. Cheri is also responsible for the evaluation, implementation and ongoing effectiveness of all of Kelly Benefits’ services including technology, client integration, communications, plan management reporting and enhanced benefits.

A key contributor to the KBS Account Management team, Cheri has experience working with clients of all sizes, specializing in large groups. Most notably, she serves the University of Maryland Medical System, which has upwards of 20,000 lives. Apart from her consulting role, she also gives back to the team by serving as a mentor to junior staff members.

Cheri brings a well-rounded career perspective to health and welfare consulting. Prior to joining KBS, Cheri worked for a claims-paying Third Party Administrator and for Blue Cross Blue Shield. Her prior experience and industry knowledge proves invaluable to the clients she serves.

In 2018, Cheri was awarded Cigna Mid-Atlantic’s Kay Moran Memorial Award. The award is presented annually by Cigna to a female consultant whose core values include partnership, commitment, honesty, fairness, compassion and customer focus.

Cheri has served as a board member of the Baltimore Association of Health Underwriters. She has also served on the Ashland Presbyterian Church Board of Deacons, was Fundraising Chair for the Dulaney High School Marching Band Boosters and most recently, has served on event committees at Stella Maris to raise money to support their long-term care residents.

Cheri holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Hobart/William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. Residing in Cockeysville, Maryland, Cheri and her husband are soon to be empty nesters. They hope to spend more time playing golf and traveling.
