Employers have long been concerned about the rising cost of healthcare in relation to the health benefits plans they offer to their employees. This concern is driven by several factors that have significant implications for both employers and employees. During this presentation, we will address the pressing issue of escalating healthcare expenses and explore innovative strategies and actionable insights designed to combat the challenges posed by these rising costs.

9:45 -10:45 AM: Unraveling the Mental Health Parity Puzzle: What Does it Really Mean to be in Parity?
Presenter: Marissa Rufo, Compliance Advisor, MZQ Consulting
The Mental Health Parity law started in 1996 but became permanent in 2008 with the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) and later regulations like the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 (CAA21). Under these laws, group health plans must conduct non-quantitative and quantitative treatment limitations (NQTL and QTL) analyses for mental health parity. In this presentation Marissa will untangle these complex requirements and provide practical information to help you understand your obligations and ensure compliance for your organization.

10:45-11 AM: Break

11:00 AM-12:00 PM: Attracting & Retaining Talent in Today’s Workforce
Presenter: Erin Moran, Executive Director, Dr. Nancy Grasmick Leadership Institute at Towson University
In today’s rapidly changing world, attracting and retaining top talent is challenging. Resignations are up by 23%, 40% of employees consider quitting, and 69% of employers struggle to fill open positions. Employers must meet evolving talent expectations and adapt hiring strategies for the future of work in a competitive, multi-generational, and hybrid workplace.
