As Seen on Fox 45 WBFF-TV: Expert Reacts to Maryland Paid Family Leave

Jennifer Berman

BALTIMORE, MD –Senior Vice President of Compliance for Kelly Benefits Strategies and ERISA Counsel for Kelly Benefits, Jen Berman, JD, MBA, recently joined Fox 45 WBFF-TV’s morning news broadcast to discuss the passing of the Time to Care Act of 2022.

The Act, which was passed by the Maryland General Assembly after an override of an initial veto by Governor Larry Hogan, establishes a comprehensive family and medical leave program. This new law will provide nearly all Maryland workers with 12 weeks of job-protected paid leave each year to care for themselves or a loved one when they are seriously ill or injured, to care for a new child, or address the impact of military deployment. The mandatory paid program will begin to be funded by both employers and workers beginning in October 2023, with covered employees able to receive benefits in June 2025.
