Providing Women and Children a Place to Call Home
BALTIMORE, MD – On Thursday, December 9, Kelly Benefits Chief Executive Officer Frank Kelly III and his wife, Gayle, joined other area business, community and civic leaders in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Helping Up Mission’s new Women’s and Children’s Center in East Baltimore. The ceremony was the culmination of a multi-year effort to raise funds and build a home capable of serving the holistic needs of Baltimore’s most vulnerable population.
Since 2018, Gayle and Frank have served as co-chairs of HUM’s Inspiring Hope campaign, which, to date, has raised more than $62 million to build and open the new facility. The 145,000 square foot building in the historic Jonestown neighborhood will provide long-term recovery services and a home environment for up to 200 women battling addiction and homelessness and as many as 50 children. It will also include onsite counseling as well as residential, dining and recreation space and a dedicated area for childcare.
“It was an honor for Gayle and me to co-chair the Inspiring Hope Campaign that led to the ribbon-cutting ceremony today,” shared Frank. “Opening the Center for the very first time will be an incredible moment in the ongoing effort to combat addiction and homelessness, and I am confident the Center will be the beginning of a transformational new chapter for so many women and children who need hope, healing, and a positive path forward.”
The new center, located at 1216 E. Baltimore Street across from HUM’s men’s campus, is slated to open to individual women in January 2022 and to women with children in January 2023.
Kelly Benefits is honored to support Helping Up Mission’s efforts to help people and families experiencing addiction and homelessness throughout Baltimore City and the surrounding community. To learn more about the new Center and the Inspiring Hope Campaign, CLICK HERE
