Sandy Walters Vietnam Veteran’s 50th Reunion

WASHINGTON D.C. – Sandy Walters, Executive Vice President and Senior Consultant for Kelly & Associates Insurance Group/KELLY Payroll (KELLY) gathered with members of his Infantry Officers Candidates School (OCS) graduating class of 1968 from Wednesday, October 24th through Sunday, October 28th in Washington D.C.

In celebration of their 50th Anniversary, the OCS graduates visited the Vietnam Wall and other D.C. landmarks to unite and remember their time serving alongside one another in Vietnam.

Sandy entered the service in 1967 at age 23 and served until November of 1970, spending his last year in Vietnam where he earned a Bronze Star and served as a First Lieutenant. Sandy was an advisor in Vietnam where he was in charge of what President Richard Nixon referred to as “Vietnamization,” or the process of expanding, equipping, and training southern Vietnamese forces to take more responsibility of the war and thus reduce the number of U.S. troops.

Since his service, Sandy has continued exercising his commitment to veterans through his active involvement with MCVET, the Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training which helps homeless veterans with drug and alcohol problems re-enter society with the tools and resources needed to be successful.

“The experiences of the OCS training with my fellow candidates prepared me to face all the dangers and hardships in Vietnam and life,” said Sandy. “It was my honor and privilege to serve.”
