Team Kelly Benefits – The Irish Ice “Bears” the Cold to Support Special Olympics Maryland
ANNAPOLIS, MD – On Friday, January 24, Kelly & Associates Insurance Group/KELLY Payroll’s Team KELLY – The Irish Ice braved the 44 degree-Chesapeake Bay at Sandy Point State Park for the 2020 Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge.
Now in its 34th year, the annual Plunge supports more than 8,000 Maryland Special Olympics athletes who train and compete in unified and individual team sports year-round. Through the MSP Polar Bear Plunge and other initiatives throughout the year, Special Olympics is able to provide continuing opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, develop new skills and gain friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and their community.
In support of its 32-member Plunge team and Special Olympics athletes across the state, KELLY raised nearly $11,000 for the event, ranking 13th in dollars raised for organizations participating in Friday’s Corporate Plunge. In total, the Plunge raised more than $3.2 million, surpassing its 2020 goal, which will greatly assist in creating a world of opportunity and in leading the charge for inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
